Yellowstone part 2

Thursday morning we woke to rain. So we stayed in our tent for a while. Chase had bought a construction hat with light  and he loved to wear it.

It stopped raining long enough for me to cook the breakfast. But it started to rain right when I was done making it. So we ran over to the tent flap and ate standing up. (I know it is blurry- oh well.)

When we left it was still raining and we drove down 2 campsites. Whoa! a bison right next door and we didn't even know it.

We decided to drive to Yellowstone lake. It was still rainy and we decided to drive pass all the things we wanted to see, get to the lake and then it would stop raining and then we could go back to all those spots when it was sunny. It worked! The weather obeyed my request.  It was a beautiful drive. The Yellowstone river is amazingly beautiful.

Of course many rocks were thrown into the lake and shoes got wet even though we warned them not to get them yet. (yes I took extra shoes for this very purpose.)

Here are some rapids along the river. We saw a fish (right there where they are looking) that was as big as my arm. It was just hanging out. It looked like it was heading upstream.

This place is the mud volcano area. It had lots of cool geysers and springs, but all mixed with mud. All the pools were gloppy and goopy. It was cool.

These guys are looking at Dragon's Mouth. It was making scary roaring noises and steam coming out just like a dragon would.

This is what it looked like. It was a cave instead of on the ground like most of them.

The pictures don't really show the bubbling and weirdness that are there.

Guess what? Bison crossing the road again. I was worried that we would not see any wildlife. I was wrong!

Then we got to our next place- The Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. We started walking towards the path to take us to an overview-  Elk!  He was so beautiful.

Then he walked across the path and left.

Then we went around the canyon and saw the Upper Falls really close up.

I think this is the Lower falls- other side of the river.
