It is October- It is probably time to do October stuff right?
We went to the pumpkin patch to get our pumpkins and we got distracted by goats.
They were very cute goats.
And distracted by corn swimming pools...
And corn mazes...
And we made Tanner pose near a tractor.
And there was a slide.
Then we finally got around to the choosing a pumpkin part.
Did I mention that we were there with my parents? This is the little farm right by their house. They wanted to pick out pumpkins for their house but thought it would be funner to take grandkids with them. It probably was.
It is not very cold yet. The highs are in the 80's but the evenings are crisp- so it is time for fires! We have not had my sister and my parents over for roasting marshmallows yet so we did that on Sunday night.
While we were buying our pumpkins- my dad decided to buy a sunflower. He wanted to share with my kids and have them learn about them.
So we took all the seeds out of the flower...
and got all of the non seed things out of the pan.
Then we added salt water and let it sit over night.
The next day I drained it and dried the seeds out. Then I roasted them by putting them in a 300 degree oven for 40 minutes. The kids like them a lot. Actually Alex does not like them. But the others do!
Another thing that we did this weekend was clean out the garage. It took all day and it was exhausting. Our garage gets to be such a mess. But we didn't take any before pictures.
Here is the finished, clean workbench. It was so stacked high that we could not put anything else on the counter if we wanted to. Work was not being done here.
The camping shelves were rearranged and de-spidered. It really is amazing how many spider webs can be everywhere.
The yardwork/misc shelves were cleaned off.
We had so many chemicals and paint cans that were 10 -12 years old sitting on those shelves. It was good to get rid of them. And we made a trip to the dump to give them all of our household-hazardous waste stuff.
And the most amazing part. This toy/bike area is sooo clean. It is usually so cluttery and messy and takes over the whole garage. I can pull my car into the garage AND open the door to my car without causing an avalanche of bikes. (speaking of. Why can't bikes be made with kick stands. And if they do come with them, why can't they work? We have too many bikes that just teeter over with a slight breeze)
Everytie I walk into the garage it feels so great!
So- in other words. It was another good weekend.
Jaxon played and performed at a high school football game, and had a competition at Utah State all day Saturday.
He left yesterday to spend the week with his band in Southern California. He is at Disneyland today. Such a hard life he has.
