Vacation day 1 and 2 Getting there and Lady Liberty

We have been planning a trip for months. It finally happened. It was awesome! I'm going to have a lot of posts about this trip. We will start at the beginning- June 26th.

It was all of my boys first airplane rides. They were so excited! We had a flight into Minneapolis. 

 With a 4 hour layover. 

They all enjoyed the flights.

Jaxon was next to Chase.

We got to Newark, New Jersey and it was crazy trying to get to where our shuttle picked us up. Then a ride to our hotel. It is a good thing that we had a driver. The part of New Jersey that I saw was all freeways and none of it made any sense to me. That night we ate at the hotel and relaxed. 

The next morning our shuttle driver was coming for us at 12:30. So we had the morning to go see the Statue of Liberty! We took an Uber there because we had no transportation. It was easy and convenient. 

There was a monument for the Twin Towers. 

It was fun looking at New York

 Then we got on our Ferry and headed off to Liberty Island. 

But first, the ferry stopped at Ellis Island. I would have Loved, Loved to go to Ellis Island, and it was a part of our tour, but we just didn't have time.

 But it has some cool buildings on it.

 Then we were on our way! 

We all got these speakers that would teach about the statue as we walked around. 

We saw the original flame.

 Then we walked up to the top of the pedestal- and this was the view.

 We tried to take pictures with the whole statue in it, but it was hard.

 Tada!

 I have never made a bucket list. But if I did, this would have been on it. 

 Then was the ferry ride back: 

 All different views of the statue. 

 There was a museum to learn about the train station where the ferry dropped us off. 

 There used to be a ton of trains leave from here. 

Then we got an Uber back to our Hotel. It was amazing again to see how many twists and turns it took on the freeways to get to our hotel. It was perfect timing. It was exactly when we were getting picked up by our shuttle to pick up our RV. It was about an hour ride there. We picked up our RV. It was beautiful. I was so impressed by how clean it was and everything was great.  

So we took off to Philadelphia. There was a little bit more room in the RV than in our minivan. 

 And here is Andre- he was a pro. There were some scary times (11' 8" bridge, 12' RV), but he is a great driver and always got us out of those situations. 

First we went shopping and filled up the RV with food. (the towels, sheets, dishes, pans, etc... came with the RV (well, we paid for all those things to be included). We got to our first RV park that night. It was near downtown Philadelphia. It was the only place close to Old City. It was a unique place. It was an old business that had a huge parking lot. They converted it into an RV park. Not a speck of grass to be found. But that was all we needed- a place to plug in. It was really hot so we needed that air conditioning. 

The first night in the RV was great. We all slept really well.
