Inside this building were two giant spheres. We went to the rainforest first.
It was pretty awesome. It was humid just like a rain forest would be. They had tons of plants and trees just like a rain forest. They had lots of butterflies flying everywhere. And they had lots of animals. Like these parrots (or whatever kind of bird)
They had tons of these aquarium things with lots of animals unique to rain forests. Like poison dart frogs, giant spiders, snakes, and tons of stuff I don't remember. They also had a cool display of leaf cutter ants. That was fun to watch.
You went up the sphere to see the different levels of the forest. From the floor to the canopy. It was a great display.
We loved it.
But by the end the humidity was too much and you could not breathe. It was time for something else. Under the rain forest was the biggest most amazing aquarium I have ever seen (I have not seen many- but this was incredible.)
It never ended. There were so many displays and aquariums around every corner. so many different kind of sea life.
This says it all.
There was another dome in the building. It was a planetarium. We watched 2 different shows on the dome ceiling. They were great also. My little boys had never been to a planetarium so this was new to them.
Then we went up on the roof. These are the windows above the rain forest.
There were also other displays. This was an earthquake display and the kids learned all about earthquakes.
It is weird that I had a blog only about this museum but it really was great. It is in the golden gate park. There are so many awesome things in the park. You should go. We spent all afternoon there since we wasted the morning trying to go to an amusement park that didn't want us. So this was day one in San Fran.
