My middle boys can't open their eyes in the summer.
I tell them that their eyes are closed- and their smiles get all screwed up so they can open their eyes.
Example #1:
Sorry Tanner, your eyes were closed in that one, can you try to open them?
Are you happy or mad?

Alex, your eyes were closed, try again.
Whoops, they were closed again, one more time.-
